Odors, fragrances, stench are all around us, yet we don’t know much about how these sensory impressions affect the human brain. But we might use them to be healthier. As a Wallenberg Academy Fellow, Jonas Olofsson will find out more about how we store memories of smells. Among other things, the research may result in new methods for early detection of dementia.

Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation has since its establishment in 1917 awarded over almost 42 billion in grants. In 2025 the yearly grants to excellent basic research and education in Sweden was in total over SEK 2.5 billion.
