The Nobel Foundation today presents the first vision images of the Nobel Center to be built on Stadsgårdskajen at Slussen in Stockholm. The Nobel Center will be the new platform for bringing the ideas of the Nobel Prize to a broad audience – and for creating conversations about science, literature and peace that concern our time.

Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation has granted funding to the Nobel activities for many years and has also clearly stated its willingness to be a main financier of a new Nobel Center as an open meeting place with engaging activities for a broad audience.

“The fact that the funding for the Nobel Center is now secured constitutes an important step for Sweden as a knowledge and research nation. The Nobel Prize represents curiosity, courage and a long-term perspective – values that not only strengthen Swedish research and education but also make our country more attractive to the most talented researchers and students. We look forward to, together with the Erling-Persson Foundation, the Nobel Foundation and the City of Stockholm, creating a place in the middle of Stockholm accessible to everyone and capable of inspiring new generations and generating dialogues across borders,” says Peter Wallenberg Jr, Chair of Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation.

In total, the funding for the Nobel Center amounts to just over SEK 2.5 billion, of which Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation and the Erling-Persson Foundation jointly account for SEK 2.3 billion, equally divided by the two foundations, and the Nobel activities for the remainder, the Nobel Center is planned to be completed and inaugurated in 2031.
