Episodic memory is the memory of experiences and events: remembering your neighbor’s name, as well as what you need to buy for dinner. For some people, this type of memory remains very strong well into old age. These people are known as superagers in the scientific world. In the video, we meet Anita, an 82-year-old superager.
Lars Nyberg is a professor of neuroscience at Umeå University. Since 1988, he has worked on a globally unique project in which he and his research team have studied how the memory of Umeå residents changes over time. His research shows that several factors contribute to a healthy brain, in different combinations.
