Torgny Näsholm has gone from groundbreaking scientific discoveries to developing several kinds of environmentally friendly plant nutrition. Products that today have been used for over 100 million trees. For this, Torgny Näsholm was awarded the 2018 Marcus Wallenberg Prize - the largest forest-research award in the world.

Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation has since its establishment in 1917 awarded over almost SEK 42 billion in grants. In 2025 the yearly grants to excellent basic research and education in Sweden was in total over SEK 2.5 billion.
