Every year, 70 million tons of electronic waste is produced that cannot be recycled. Ergang Wang's vision is to create a sustainable cycle of organic electronics where old devices like mobile phones and computers can biodegrade into the soil and the broken-down components can be reused to manufacture new electronics. Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation has since its establishment in 1917 awarded over almost SEK 42 billion in grants. In 2025 the yearly grants to excellent basic research and education in Sweden was in total over SEK 2.5 billion.
